Confirmation

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is where you take responsibility for the promises that your parents and God-parents made at your baptism. It involves taking a short course through the basic elements of the Christian faith and then there is a special church service where the Bishop comes and you confirm your promises in his presence and he confirms you as a member of the church. It is like 'Baptism stage 2' for those who were baptised as little children.

Why get confirmed?

Confirmation is for those who are in their mid teens and older who have come to a point where they want to 'stand on their own two feet' as Christians. It is a great opportunity to learn more about God and Jesus Christ, meet other Christians, and get to know your local church [if you aren't already part of it].

What happens in the preparation?

The preparation consists of a number of different bits - an overview of the Bible, a closer look at Jesus Christ, and some time spent familiarising everyone with the church.    It is expected that you will attend our evening service regularly over this time, if you don't already do so.

When does it all start?

Confirmation classes are held on demand, typically starting in May or November, with a preparation period of four or five months.
