St Martin's is committed to the nurture of children within the larger church family as a vital part of their growing to maturity as Christian people. Consequently we endeavour to provide a church environment which is encouraging and supportive of both children and their parents. Our Family Service is at 10:00am and is where we focus our Children's Ministry.
There are three groups, for different ages:
JUMP - Juniors Understanding the Message through Play
TACOS - Talking About Christ On Sunday
TRIX - Totally Rapt In Christ
All three groups start in the Church on Sundays at 10:00am with their families as we believe that it is good for children to gain an idea of what it is that their parents do in church while they are in Children's Church. We endeavour to provide a short talk or drama which is aimed at teaching the central element of the sermon for the day. This occurs towards the start of the service and after the Kid's Spot the children go out to their programmes. All groups run every Sunday during NSW school terms. A creche is run during Family Service - see below for details.
Jump!!
Children's Church for those in Kindergarten and Year 2 at school as well as younger children who will turn at least 4 during the year. (Parents of new children are welcome to sit in with them to help them settle in and to share what they are learning.)
Through play, drama, music and craft we aim to teach the children, what God is like, who Jesus is and what he has done for them. The morning is full of activity, we aim to leave the children with a positive experience. Our prayer for them is that they will "taste and see that the Lord is Good".
Where: Kindergarten Hall
TACOS!!
For children in Years 2 - 6 at school.
TRiX
Youth group for Years 7 - 8 at school.
What: Food, fun and fellowship.
Crèche
There is a crèche which is provided throughout the year. It is staffed by at least two volunteers, and there are book and toys for younger children [6 mths - 2 years] to play with. Also, the service is visible and audible from the crèche so that parents who need to 'retreat' are not cut off from the service.
We also have Playtime at St Martin's, a group for preschoolers and their mothers, that meets on Wednesdays from 10.00am until Noon in the Kindergarten Hall.
